Food contact materials are materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods such as:

  • Packaging materials;
  • Cutlery and dishes;
  • Processing machines;
  • Containers;
  • Materials and articles in contact with water for human consumption.

During the contact of the food contact materials with the food, molecules can migrate from the food contact material to the food. Because of this, in many countries regulations are made to ensure food safety.

Hubron produce a range of Black Masterbatches that are compliant with European Regulation (EC) Number 1935/2004, directive number EU 10/2011 and all local community state legislation regarding plastics materials and articles in contact with food.

In general commercially available carbon blacks are not compliant with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) legislation in North America. However, Hubron has an approved range of FDA compliant masterbatches.
